And AWS enters the AI Compute race
Welcome to The Alignment, where we help you understand what’s happening in the world of AI without any of the jargon or bs.
Big day in the world of AI once again, here's what we have lined up for you -
Bain and OpenAI ink partnership. Coca - Cola will be their first client.
AWS has entered the Generative AI race in partnership with Hugging Face.

Bain and OpenAI join hands
OpenAI continues to ink partnerships with industry leaders to deploy its language models to real high stakes customers. Now Bain has joined hands with them to deploy OpenAI’s technologies to their clients. What’s impressive is that their debut client is Coca Cola where they will be using technologies parallel to ChatGPT and DALL-E to augment brand, marketing and consumer experiences.

It’s also clear that Bain intends to use these technologies for a broad spectrum of industries. Be it to boost productivity for finance professionals or helping traditional industries like telecoms, retail banking and utility services to massively improve their customer experiences.
This is the classic Sam Altman playbook. Launch to a small group of customers, collect feedback, iterate, launch to more customers and repeat. One that he has championed since his days at Y Combinator.
AWS has signed an exclusive partnership with Hugging Face
Amazon has entered the AI race after announcing its partnership with Hugging Face. The next iteration of Hugging Face’s Bloom Language Model and open source platforms that rival OpenAI’s services will exclusively be deployed in partnership with AWS. Founded on open source principles one can expect that models that Hugging Face will be developing will continue to stay open and publicly available, a slight contrast to OpenAI’s approach.
With this we now officially have each of the world’s largest cloud computing platforms to have their horses in the race to capture the AI cloud compute market. The Microsoft Azure x OpenAI , AWS x Hugging Face and Google Cloud Platform (with Google’s in house AI models) race will greatly shape the AI technologies that consumers will be using in the coming years.
AI discovers possible compounds to cure Opioid Addiction
AI continues to make positive strides in biology. Researchers have discovered promising compounds that can decrease opioid dependence. Reinforcement learning was used to identify inhibitors of kappa-opioid receptors which are responsible for addiction.

Opioid addiction affects 16 million people and causes 120,000 deaths globally. With advancements in AI targeted towards biology we have the potential to save millions of lives as we speed up drug discovery efforts to solve all kinds of medical conditions.
