Ex-Apple Executives want to use "Good AI" for their new computing device.

Plus Bard now helps you code

Happy Monday ! Something tells us this is going to be a big week in AI, so lets start it with a bang !

As always if you enjoy reading our posts be sure to spread the word !

Here’s what we have lined up for you today -

  1. Bard now help's you code

  2. Ex-Apple employees are building hardware inspired by "Good AI"

  3. Greg Brockman shares the story of ChatGPT's potential

Slowly but surely Google is lining up product launches which people were expecting them to have back when it seemed like OpenAI was launching something new everyday.

By far the most adopted use case for Generative Models so far has been in understanding, debugging and writing code. Github copilot has been one of the fastest growing developer projects and Google has even funded a competitor - Magic.dev

Bard’s coding updates help it debug code in most standard programming languages as well as write functions for Google Sheets. Much like Github Co-pilot, it can also explain snippets of your code and make suggestions for modifications and improvements. It can also translate code from one programming language to another.

The release however cautioned that Bard is still in its experimentation phase and should not be taken at face value with all of its outputs (the standard warning that all LLM platforms have).

Zooming out, this release once again shows that we are still very early in announcing a clear winner in the AI race. While OpenAI may seem to have a first movers advantage, we have seen that in the world of deep technology moats first movers don’t matter as much.

The Iphone was not the first smartphone, Facebook was not the first Social Network and Google itself was not the first search engine back in the day.

Humane is a startup founded by ex-apple executives to reimagine the future of hardware and smart devices.

Over the past 4 years the secretive startup has raised $230 million from investors like Tiger Global, LG Technology Ventures, Microsoft, Volvo Cars and OpenAI CEO and Cofounder Sam Altman with little to share what they are building.

Through the company’s patents, early enthusiasts had predicted that the company was building a screenless computing interface. Late last week these were confirmed as Humane CEO and Ex- Apple Director of Design Imran Chaudhri shared a screenless device in a Ted talk.

The device uses a combination of gestures and voice commands for inputs and can display information on any object it’s projected on. It does not require a cell phone to work.

In his talk Chaudhri showcased the wearable device which was placed in his jacket pocket doing language translation for him as well as picking up a call from his wife, the information for which was displaced on his palm.

According to him, this device is “Good AI” in action and that the company will be sharing a lot more in the coming months.
