Elon Musk says he will start 'TruthGPT' AI platform

Last month Elon Musk hinted towards starting a new OpenAI rival. A few days later it became known that he was recruiting Deepmind scientists to lead the venture. Last week it became known that Musk incorporated X.AI and just a few hours ago he made it public that the goal of the company will be to make “TruthGPT” a ChatGPT like product.

Musk explained, "I'm going to start something which I call 'TruthGPT,' or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe," . This he believes will be the best path to AI Safety because it will care about the universe and the humans that form an important part of it.

Musk warns that the risks of AI going wayward are far beyond poor aircraft design, automobile production and even shared that “The only one on one meeting I ever had with Obama as President I used not to promote Tesla or SpaceX, but to encourage AI regulation.”

Truth seeking has also been the centre of Musk’s pursuit at Twitter. Now with X.AI in hand and Twitter being renamed to X Corp. Is there a possible master plan being crafted ? Whatever happens, things will move pretty fast knowing Elon.

Amazon CEO: "We're democratizing" generative AI

Amazon is the world’s greatest marketplace. It also runs the biggest cloud computing service in the world, AWS.

In his annual shareholder letter CEO Andy Jassy shared that Generative AI projects will be transformative for the company. These will be applied to every area of Amazon’s business and the company is going to invest heavily in building up AI capability.

"Let’s just say that LLMs and Generative AI are going to be a big deal for customers, our shareholders, and Amazon," Jassy said, backing it up with the launch of the AWS bedrock developer platform and the release of their Titan foundation models.

The Amazon stock is down 40% over the past 12 months, but AWS revenue grew 29% in 2022 alone. Still investors are wary given the market slow down and reduced spending by companies using AWS. Amazon itself is in cost optimization mode and AI could definitely help with that.

Meta’s public push towards embracing AI saw a 20% rise in stock price, could it be the same for Amazon ? At least we know that public markets are also bullish on AI.
